20 Years Ago at the Library…
The Fall 1999 issue of the Library Line reveals an exciting time of growth for TLCPL. A twelve-page insert illustrating the changes at the Main Library was included with this issue. The cover features the McMaster Family, and an article featuring their generous gift. Although the Main Library’s building was gaining a major expansion, a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Sanger Branch library was held on July 24, and the latest plans for the renovation and expansion of the Maumee Branch was presented on July 29. The Local History and Genealogy Department’s move to Point Place for the duration of Main’s renovations was revealed, along with plans to move all of Main’s departments and offices.
The Authors! Authors! 1999-2000 schedule was announced, which included a planned visit from Toledo native and graduate of DeVilbiss High School, P. J. O’Rourke. Other 1999 planned visitors included Harold Evans and Dr. Bertice Berry.
